Alexander Florensky

(born 1960) is a Russian artist, who started his career in the early 1980s as a painter and book illustrator. In 1982 he graduated from the Leningrad Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design (ceramics faculty). In 1985 he co-founded the Mit’ki art group. He also helped to found the Mit’kilibris Publishing House (1994), simultaneously working as a curator of the Mit’ki-Vkhutemas Gallery (1997). Working with animation, he took part in many Russian and international film festivals. By the mid-1990s he began collaborating with his wife, Olga Florenskaya. Their works are part of the collections of the State Russian Museum, the State Hermitage, the State Tretyakov Gallery and other art institutions.
